Building a good skincare routine involves understanding your skin type and concern, choosing the right products, and following a consistent regime.
Good and healthy skin is not simply a matter of genetics. Your daily habits, diet, thoughts decide what reflect on your face. It’s not enough to have good and expensive skin care products. You should know about their application method and correct order. There is simple thumb rule; apply products from thin to thick.
Now skincare regime is a totally personal. As Everyone has different kind of skin, different problems and no one is living in same weather condition.
Identify your skin type
- Dry skin – rough, flaky, itchy and tight
- Oily skin– Shiny, acne prone. Enlarged pore
- Combination– oily at T Zone (forehead, nose and chin area)
- Normal– balanced, not too shine, nor too dry
- Sensitive– easily susceptible to irritation, infection and inflammation.

1) Cleanser
- Cleanse your face twice a day; at morning and bedtime.
- Use two types of facewashes. One is gentle and another one is foaming or salicylic acid facewash.
- Massage adequate amount of facewash on your face using gentle pressure.
- If you are a daily makeup wearer, then do double cleansing your face. First use any cleaning oil/balm and then use facewash.
- Gently pat dry your face with soft cloth/towel.
2) Toner
- Apply toner to balance the skin’s pH.
- Toner removes remaining cleanser residues and dirt
- And prep the skin for next applications
- Always choose alcohol free toner.
- If your using toner with exfoliating agents like glycolic acid, use it at night time only.
3) Serum
- Filled with concentrated dose of active ingredients, SERUMs are best skin allies.

- Vitamin C – brighten and protect the skin from environmental damage. It targets the dullness, dark spot and pigmentation. It gives an amazing glow to your face.
- Hyaluronic acid– locks the moisture and super hydrates the skin.
- Retinol-stimulates the collagen and elastin production, help to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and sagging.
- Niacinamides-improves texture, reduces redness, controls sebum/oil production and strengthens skin barrier.
- Salicylic acid– gently exfoliates the skin and remove dirt and dead skin without causing physical damage like scrubbing.
4) Eye cream
- Helps to hold moisture and stimulate the circulation.

5) Spot treatment

6) Moisturizer
- everyone needs moisturizer to hydrate and to protect the skin barrier.
- Moisturizer should be use according to skin type.
- Oily skin- gel/water based light weight and non-comedogenic moisturizers.
- Dry skin- oil based creamy moisturizers
- Normal or Combination- lotion, slightly thick and non-greasy moisturizers
- Sensitive – non comedogenic, medicated creams.
7) Sunscreen
- no matter what skin type you have, always use broad spectrum sunscreens with minimum spf 30 every morning, regardless of weather.
- Whether you stay at home or have a job, whether you go outside or not, regardless of your gender or age, using sunscreen is compulsory.
- You can use sunscreen with chemical filters or physical filters
- Apply sunscreen 30 mins before sun exposure and reapply after every 2-3 hrs.
- Use adequate amount of sunscreen to cover all exposed body area including face, hand and other parts. Generally, two tablespoons of sunscreen required to cover all exposed skin area.

- Results take time; stick to your routine and be patient.
- Modify your routine based on seasonal change.
